about the artists:
You didn’t have to see Holly Daggers in her recent “Uncle Tom” protest mix at Sink to know she’s no second-class VJ. Holly’s been pushing the visuals scene to the forefront with an interview in DJ Magazine (UK) and an upcoming hour-long mix on Joost. While other VJs program with Jitter™ she programs with JIGGLE, and tonight’s girly show will be more in your face than ever: Big, Beautiful, and From Another Planet!
Seej has been a power player in the VJ scene since well before the beginnings of EyeWash some five years ago. His new event is Sink, a monthly at ReBoot. He is also curator of the T-minus Film Festival which is moving into its third year. He has specially programmed particles that take advantage of the 3D chromadepth technology for the night’s event. Teaming up with The Goistron Sentry, a gigantic reactive automaton built by an ancient and extinct alien race to serve as a guardian to several nearby galaxies, expect fly-in-you-face jumping out of the screen fun!
MOSTRA, the dynamic duo of Gabriela Monroy and Caspar Stracke have freshly returned from a year abroad creating and teaching new media in Korea. They come with a full roster of North Korean propaganda footage ready to be ripped apart into three dimensions right before your very eyes. For those who have seen their track on the EyeWash 1 DVD, you know these two can turn political statements into pure video performance art.
VisualHornHonking and DJ ActivePhaze present “Spring’s springs”. Only the most supafresh visuals and music of a quirky glitchy rhythm springs combined with synthetic warmth to give you the feel of EyeWash in this brand new season! This performance research is on the border of cold and warm where their original creations and shared work entices and entertains.
EyeWash is an event where VJs and Video artists perform live-mix video, present audio visual performances in collaboration with Audio artists, workshop performance involving video and technology. EyeWash is also supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
