European artist Julyo has carefully assembled the most talented downtown NY musicians and VJs to produce An Evening With Photosonic, a multimedia spectacular. This never-before-seen extravaganza features Photosonic, a film introduction to the world’s only “photosonic guitar,” an instrument which creates visual artwork using sounds.
An Evening With Photosonic will include New York’s No. 1 VJ impresario, Eric Dunlap, curator of the infamous live mix video series EyeWash and co-director of www.forwardmotiontheater.org. The event also features special guest Masahiro Kahata, technological wunderkind and inventor of the Interactive Brainwave Visual Analyzer, an astonishing technology that allows real time brainwave activity to control digital video, movies and music.www.IBVA.com has attracted interest from large and pioneering corporations alike. In 1991, Psychic Lab Inc. was started in New York. In 1998, IBVA won a product award at MacWold Convention in New York. Now, Kahata works with noted artist Mariko Mori.
Along with the film screening and special guests, the evening will include the release of Karmatic, the work of an ambient music duet formed by Julyo and New York composer Keith Patchel who has colaborated with Richard Lloyd of the popular band Television. Karmatic is a bold new multimedia performance ensemble where music drives real time video broadcast. Karmatic’s music is a fusion of the best in ambient and modern classical music. Karmatic also features the expertise of producer Jamey Staub , sound engineer for Public Enemy, the Beastie Boys and other major-label artists.
The event will be filmed by lower east side filmmaker Mark Mann who has had his films screened at international film festivals and venues including Sundance and the MOMA.
