The Ultimate Chill…Hub Culture Retrospectives: Antarctica Majestic timelapse views, stunning soundscapes, Experience the last continent with an electro-ambient score by Aerostatic* . |
This work captures the last vestiges of a vanishing ecosystem, a journey without documentary edits or intrusive narration.
Shot in the spring of 2005, the backbone of its structure is a series of static camera set-ups that observe a diversity of weather conditions: from subtle cloud movements over pristine glaciers to an inhospitable whiteout over a stretch of snow covered tundra.
It is a catalog of a formerly isolated continent’s fragile yet powerful climate, whose shifts due to human impact have yet to be determined.
* original environmental audio is included as a second audio stream.
AEROSTATIC is Terry Golob and Michele Darling. Based in New York City, they utilize artifacts of sound generated by digital and analog processing in conjunction with a variety of interactive technologies to compose and design audio environments for film, installations and music performance. In approaching Antarctica, the goal was to find the sonic equivalents of ice, wind, snow, water and clouds existing in a sub-zero environment.
Hub Culture is the global urban network of individuals which grew from the 2002 book Hub Culture by Stan Stalnaker, focused on generating positive social action through activation of the network with content, experiences and community building.
